Cathodic Protection Cable
Performance Wire and Cable manufactures U.S.-made cathodic protection cable designed for direct burial and submerged environments where corrosion prevention is critical.
Our cables are built to resist:
- Abrasion and crushing
- Chemicals, oils, and moisture
- UV and sun exposure
- Soil, freshwater, brackish, and saltwater conditions
What Is Cathodic Protection?
Cathodic protection is an electrochemical method used to prevent corrosion of metal structures by controlling the flow of electric current.
It is commonly used to protect:
- Cables
- Marine crafts
- Pilings
- Pipelines
- Storage tanks
- Well casings
Effective cathodic protection depends on proper cable performance, consistent current distribution, and long-term durability in harsh environments.

HALAR® / HMWPE Dual-Insulated Cable
HALAR Insulation
HALAR is a fluoropolymer insulation that provides exceptional resistance to harsh chemicals and corrosive environments. Learn more about our HALAR-insulated cable solutions and how they perform in demanding industrial applications.
HALAR insulation provides exceptional resistance to:
- Sulfuric acid
- Hydrochloric acid
- Chlorine
- Corrosive gases
HMWPE Outer Layer
A high molecular weight polyethylene jacket that provides:
- Flexibility during installation
- Resistance to abrasion and manipulation
- Long-term durability underground and underwater
Best for: Direct burial, tanks, pipelines, and water-submerged applications.
KYNAR® / HMWPE
What is HALAR Cable and What is it Made of?
KYNAR cable insulation is designed for harsh industrial environments where standard insulation materials fail. Learn more about our KYNAR-insulated cable solutions and how they provide long-term performance in chemically aggressive applications.
KYNAR insulation provides superior resistance against:
- Chlorine
- Sulfuric acid
- Hydrochloric acid
Paired with an HMWPE outer jacket for strength and flexibility in demanding installations.
Ideal for: Highly corrosive environments and long-life pipeline systems.
Where Is This Cable Used?
Our cathodic protection cable supports corrosion prevention in:
- Oil and gas pipelines
- Marine and offshore structures
- Water and wastewater facilities
- Municipal and utility infrastructure
What Chemicals is KYNAR/HMWPE Cable Resistant To?
KYNAR/HMWPE cable offers exceptional resistance to chemicals. It provides superior resistance to chlorine, sulfuric acid, as well as hydrochloric acid, which the HMWPE insulation cannot withstand on its own. KYNAR protection cable is constructed much like HALAR cable, including HMWPE outer jacketing, which provides flexibility and strength to withstand natural abuse without damaging the conductor.
Custom Cathodic Protection Cable Options
We manufacture to your specifications with options for:
- Custom sizes and lengths
- Color coding and labeling
- Sequential footage marking
- No minimum order requirements
Built for Long-Term Corrosion Prevention
Cathodic protection systems are only as reliable as the cable that carries the current. That’s why we engineer our cable for extreme environments and long service life.
